A graduate of the Vancouver College of Counsellor Training and the Cura
Institute for Integrated Learning, Karleen has studied Transformational
Systemic Therapy at the Satir Institute of the Pacific. She also trained in
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with the Vancouver Couple and Family
Institute. She continues to develop personally and professionally through her
ongoing participation, with a group of dedicated colleagues, in a Counselling
Supervision and Mentorship Program.
As a CGA as well as a therapist, Karleen understands the ongoing demands
often present in the corporate business world, and how these demands can
impact clients on an emotional level. Her first- hand experience helps her
empathize, understand and offer support to business leaders and team
members experiencing stress related to their work environment. She also
supports transitioning clients as they work through fear and anxiety related
to finances, as well as the other emotions which often surface during divorce,
or after the death of a spouse.
As part of the Training Team of an Employee Assistance Program licensed in California, Karleen leads seminars for Vancouver-based employees on topics
related to maintaining a healthy work/life balance. She also provides peer
counselling services at the University of British Columbia to clients working
through career and life transitions. She is Past Chair for the BC Board of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.
Karleen values a healthy work/life balance for herself, as well as for her
clients. Outside her working hours, she enjoys family, travel, tennis, a good
book, long walks, and quality time with friends.
